The Currituck County Chamber of Commerce is proud to share a new opportunity designed to help small businesses provide quality health coverage for their employees at a more affordable cost. The NC Chamber has partnered with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) to introduce Carolina HealthWorks, a health insurance option created specifically for North Carolina’s small businesses, their employees, and their families.
Carolina HealthWorks allows small businesses to join together under a Multiple Employer Welfare Arrangement (MEWA), pooling resources to access lower costs and stronger benefits. This collaborative model helps small employers compete with larger companies when it comes to offering comprehensive healthcare coverage.
“Rising healthcare costs continue to challenge small businesses across our state,” said Gary Salamido, President and CEO of the NC Chamber. “Carolina HealthWorks is a commonsense solution that empowers small businesses to provide competitive benefits and support their employees’ well-being.”
Carolina HealthWorks is available to North Carolina small businesses with 2 to 50 employees that are members of the NC Chamber or any local chamber affiliated with the NC Chamber Federation, including the Currituck County Chamber of Commerce. Blue Cross NC serves as the plan administrator, and enrollment opportunities are available throughout the year.
“North Carolina is one of the most expensive states in the country for healthcare,” said Dr. Tunde Sotunde, President and CEO of Blue Cross NC. “By partnering with the NC Chamber, we’re helping small businesses make healthcare more accessible and affordable for their employees.”
Small businesses are the backbone of Currituck County’s economy, and access to affordable benefits is critical to attracting and retaining a strong workforce. Carolina HealthWorks provides a meaningful opportunity for local employers to offer competitive healthcare options while managing the rising cost of coverage.
Once eligibility is verified, businesses may complete membership with the Currituck County Chamber of Commerce to access the program.
Businesses that are already members of the Currituck County Chamber of Commerce may enroll directly through Blue Cross NC.
