Travel & Tourism Department Claims NCTIA ‘Best of Show’ Award

Currituck, NC – At the recent annual North Carolina Travel Industry Association (NCTIA) Leadership Conference and Awards in Winston-Salem, the Currituck County Department of Travel and Tourism was the recipient of three awards in recognition of tourism achievement during the 2020-21 fiscal year.

In the Leisure Marketing category, Currituck was recognized with top Platinum honors for its 'Simply Corolla: Find Yourself Here' out-of-market campaign in the Large Bureau category. Wilmington and Beaches CVB collected Gold honors with their 'Fall is the New Summer' campaign.

In the Group Visitor Marketing category, Currituck shared Gold honors with five of its northeastern North Carolina neighbors in recognition of the collective work accomplished to launch the African American Experience of Northeast North Carolina trail project this past June. The collaborative partnership consisted of the following county tourism departments: Camden County TDA, Chowan County TDA, Currituck County Department of Travel and Tourism, Outer Banks Visitors Bureau - Dare County, Elizabeth City-Pasquotank TDA and Perquimans County TDA. The Greater Raleigh CVB received Platinum honors in the Large Bureau category.

To end the evening, Currituck was awarded Best of Show honors, in which one North Carolina bureau is selected annually by the NCTIA panel of judges as the shining example which best exemplifies tourism innovation, creativity and results.
