JAM Media Solutions announces the launch of a brand-new radio format to the Outer Banks beginning Monday, July 13.

The New Jersey-based media company has confirmed the new format will be news and talk broadcast on 92.3 WZPR starting at 6 a.m.

The all-new 92.3 WZPR will feature a live and local morning show with long-time Outer Banks radio and veteran Sam Walker. Walker’s show, called The OBX Today, will feature the local information you need, when you want it.

92.3 WZPR will also showcase news updates at the top and bottom of every hour and local weather updates multiple times per hour. Walker's show will expand on the coverage provided by the news website OBXToday.com.

A native of Currituck County, Sam Walker has been on the radio in North Carolina since he was 13 years old.

Walker has been news director for WCXL-FM, WCMS-FM, WVOD-FM and WZPR-FM since 2011, and has led coverage of some of the biggest news stories in the history of the Outer Banks, including hurricanes Irene, Matthew and Dorian.

Along with being the top voice of radio news in northeastern North Carolina, Walker makes regular appearances on regional and national radio and television outlets, including The Weather Channel, to provide his local knowledge about one of the most popular vacation spots in the country.

"I'm excited to be able to bring to the Outer Banks a news-oriented radio show every morning that will be able to expand on our coverage at OBXToday.com of what's happening locally, but across all of North Carolina," said Walker.

"We have been the leader in focusing on what's important to our community across all of our JAM Media Stations, OBX Today and social media for many years," Walker said. "Now we can take an even deeper dive with our listeners about topics that matter to them the most every morning."

After the morning show, the all-new 92.3 WZPR features the most interesting and compelling personalities in the country, including:

Brian Kilmeade from 9 a.m. to noon
Chris Plante from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Ben Shapiro from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Dave Ramsey from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Ken Coleman form 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Jim Bohannon from 9 a.m. to midnight
Eric & Gary from midnight to 6 a.m.

“We are very excited to introduce the all new, News/Talk WZPR to the Outer Banks, JAM Media Solutions owner Jonathan Mason said. "We believe it is exactly what the market needs. Our on-air lineup will be informative and engaging from the time you get up to the time you go to bed.”

Kevin Walker, JAM's Director of Programming, said he believes this type of programming will be vital to listeners all over the area.

“With an emphasis on local news and talk, WZPR will give the Outer Banks a place to get the information they need surrounded by a diverse lineup of talk shows,” Walker said.

Jam Media Solutions owns and operates seven radio stations broadcasting in the Outer Banks, N.C., Philadelphia, Pa., and Muscatine, Ia.
