The following use permits were submitted and will be reviewed by the TRC (March 10, 2021) and the BOC (tentative date:  April 19, 2021):

*            Ballance Mine:  The applicant is identified as  Allied Properties, LLC on the application and APVA, LLC on the plan (will be corrected during the TRC review).   The submittal is a use permit application for an extractive industry (sand mine) on Caratoke Highway in Moyock.  The application includes five existing properties located on the southwest side of Caratoke Highway and divided by the Chesapeake and Albemarle Railroad (Tax Map 23, Parcels 40, 46, 47, 48, and 49).  The described property contains 358.9 acres with 191.20 acres intended for the mining operation.  The plan proposes excavating 57.36 acres and the mined area will be left as a lake or be filling with reclaimed material.  The operations include dewatering to a 0.34 acre settling basin with an outlet to the northern ditch (Willie Lead Ditch).

*            NC Beach Buggy, LLC:  The applicant, NC Beach Buggy, LLC, submitted a use permit application for auto sales and rentals at 8295 Caratoke Highway.  The application indicates the intended use  will include sales and rental of low speed electric vehicles.

 

The following major site plans were submitted and will be reviewed by the TRC (March 10, 2021):

*            Corolla Light, Phase 11:  The applicant, Outer Banks Ventures, Inc., submitted a major site plan for a mixed use development to include eight residential units and commercial area.  The property is located at 1099 Ocean Trail in Corolla Light, PUD.

*            Moyock Storage and RV:  The applicant Moyock Storage and RV, LLC, submitted a major site plan for a self storage facility at 1462 Caratoke Highway in Moyock.  The property is 10.48 acres and will include the following:

*            2 – 47,619 sf of interior storage including a small office

*            4 – other buildings (11,434 sf, 13,500 sf, 11,250 sf and 16,745 sf)

*            Outdoor parking area

 

QUASI-JUDICIAL DECISIONS

The following cases were submitted and will require the board to make a quasi-judicial decision.  Board members are not allowed to discuss the case or gather evidence outside of the hearing.  You may view the property in question before the hearing, but may not talk about the case with the applicant, neighbors, or staff outside of the hearing.

  • Shingle Landing Villas: The applicant, Shingle Landing Villas, LLC, submitted a preliminary plat/use permit application for a 17-lot townhome development on Moyock Landing Drive west of the Currituck House.  The development will consist of 16   2-story townhomes with attached garages and one accessory dwelling unit.
  • The Fost Tract: The applicant, Moyock Development, LLC, submitted a preliminary plat/use permit application (second amendment)  to provide an additional street connection to the Flora tract and shift lot lines between lots 42-44.
